Certifications

In order to ensure protecting the environment, health and correct working conditions and the safety and security of the fruit we export, we have the following certifications:

RAINFOREST ALLIANCE

RAINFOREST ALLIANCE

Our main objective is to protect ecosystems, workers, the community and maintain good environmental and social management practices on the farms. We protect natural resources: flora, fauna, soil and water; we optimize the use of plant-protection products and ensure the health and safety of our workers.

Organic waste resulting from production, is used as organic matter for the plantation. All other waste is adequately disposed of, according to requirements established by Colombian laws. All our banana farms in Colombia have this certification.

GLOBAL-GAP

GLOBAL-GAP

With the implementation of Global-Gap standards, we incorporate Integrated Pest Management (MIP in Spanish) and Integrated Crop Management (MIC in Spanish) within the framework of agricultural production; these two programs are essential to improving and sustaining productivity.

Our commitment to customers is to deliver excellent quality products that meet consumer standards. All our farms are certified in this standard.

In addition, the Banacol Corporation helped the first plantain farms in the certification of Good Agricultural Practices – BPA (in Spanish), Eurep-Gap standard and subsequently recertification in Global-Gap, being the only plantain farms in the world, certified with this standard. All our banana farms in Colombia have this certification.

It is a social norm aimed at improving our worker’s labor conditions, their quality of life, their well-being and that of their families. Our corporate policy is to never hire minors and we do not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, age, origin, nationality, religion, sexual orientation or political affiliation, among others.

The Company cares for the health, hygiene and occupational safety of its workers, periodically training them and providing them with appropriate personal protection elements (PPE) for their work.

All our banana farms in Colombia have this certification.

BASC

BASC

Logistics operations carried out by the Banacol Corporation in Urabá, Colombia, are certified by the international standard BASC (Business Coalition for Safe International Trade). This certification allows Banacol to build trust in the national and international community, and thus guarantees business opportunities and generates credibility with national and international authorities as a company that meets safety standards in each of its processes.

PBIP

PBIP

Our port facilities in Nueva Colonia 1 and 2 and Zungo in Urabá are certified by the international standard PBIP (in Spanish) – ISPS (International Ships and Port Security), whose objective is to guarantee conducive safety conditions for all people who carry out activities in the ports and on the boats attended by Banacol.

NGS

This certification validates the operational safety levels of our vessels and naval devices, as well as the operational processes and communications protocols we use to prevent contamination of the cargo we transport.
